TUI Macuata Ratu Aisea Katonivere has urged people to adopt sustainable management strategies to help protect the marine environment. As a result World Fisheries day was December 1st, 2010. Ratu said Fiji was rich in marine diversity and that people should become proactive to protect the gift of nature for future generations. More than 100 people joined a march to mark the occasion.Of course this is good news because it is a whole day just for protecting the marine environment. Other good effects are that is helps preserve the serine beauty of Fiji's marine ecosystems.
Many countries should follow Fiji's example. I worry about the effects that over development and eco-toursim can have on land masses.
